Loan Funding from SBC for Borders Housing Development Programme
Date: 08/10/2009
A programme to provide affordable housing could be speeded up as a result of a new loans package.
Scottish Borders Council (SBC) has agreed to make up to £7m available to Eildon Housing Association in its capacity as a leading player in affordable housing development across the Scottish Borders.
The loans are in three separate packages designed to allow continuity in the provision of affordable housing in the Borders development through "front-funding" over the next five years. By acting in this way the Council has gone a long way to ensuring that the region gets the housing stock that is needed at a time when banks are less ready to lend.
Laurence Cox, Director of Technical Services said:
"This is a fine example of partnership working between the local housing associations and the Council to benefit the people of the Borders"
