Do you want to move to a smaller home?

We want to encourage people who are living in houses too large for their needs to 'downsize' to a smaller property. As well as helping the tenant who moves, we can then offer a larger home to a family who needs it.

In March 2011 the Associations Board approved an annual budget to help tenants who are in larger properties with more bedrooms than they need, to move to a smaller property. This approach also aims to help those who may be affected by the proposal to limit Housing Benefit ( from April 2013) for those of working age in social housing who are living in a property deemed to be larger than they require. If you would like to move to a smaller property but cannot manage all the removal with the practicalities of a move, we can help.
