Aims of the service
Riverside House is a Sheltered Housing Development that provides accessible housing with additional features and support to enable older people to live independently and enjoy a good quality of life in the community. It offers a warm, friendly atmosphere and a safe, secure setting suitable for older people. During the day staff provide general support, help with housing issues and assistance in an emergency.
What facilities and services are available?
There are 33 self contained flats
on three floors with a lift provided. All flats have gas central heating.

Tenants have the option,
for an additional charge, to take a mid-day meal in the communal dining
room if they wish. Special diets can be catered for. |
These services/facilities (other than meals and use of the guest
room) are provided within the overall rent and service charges.
Eildon Care and Support does not offer nursing or personal care to tenants at Riverside House. Where care is needed, staff will help tenants to access this through the Health Service or Social Work.
Who can apply?
Older people who would benefit from this type of housing and support can apply. Applications should be made on Eildon Housing’s Application Form. Allocations will be made in line with Eildon Housing’s Allocation Policy.
What is it likely to cost?
Tenants pay rent and service charges to Eildon for their accommodation
and related services. Eildon Housing's rental policy aims to
keep the rent and service charges affordable.

The housing support service provided by staff
at the development and the Bordercare alarm service are funded
by Scottish Borders Council. Tenants may have to pay a Supporting
People charge (up to £24.35 per week from April 2008), depending on financial circumstances.
All tenants are responsible for their own electricity and Council Tax Charges.
Individuals may be entitled to Housing Benefit, Income Support and other benefits. Our Welfare Benefits Officer will be happy to help if you are concerned about being able to afford the charges.
