Aims of the service
If you need your home to be adapted in some way, for example, a handrail or ramp at the entrance, or a shower in place of a bath, the Association can often do this through funding from Communities Scotland.

Through the provision of adaptations the Eildon Housing aims to enable tenants to continue to live in their own homes for as long as possible. While our accommodation is built to suit a wide range of needs, individuals needs can and do change over time. With annual funding from Communities Scotland, Eildon Housing works with tenants and the Occupational Therapy Service of Scottish Borders Council to provide adaptations to suit individual needs.

What services are being offered?
Subject to funding being available, the Association will provide adaptations, normally as specified and prioritised by an Occupational Therapist.

Our staff will liaise with tenants over the work itself, the timing of the work and its planning.

Our staff are responsible for co-ordinating the work and ensuring the right tradesmen are used and the work carried out to a high standard.

How much will it cost?
For the vast majority of adaptations, there is no charge.

For a few adaptations there will be small service charge to cover any servicing costs associated with the maintenance of the adaptations. For example the provision of an automatic toilet requires an annual service, the costs of which are passed on to the tenant as part of a service charge. In most cases these costs will be eligible for Housing Benefit.
