Our team at Riverside House provides housing and additional support for individuals of varying ages but predominately older adults. We do this to a high standard in accordance to individual’s assessed needs.
We provide a warm, friendly and flexible approach within a secure environment. We encourage and maintain independence where possible to the tenants of 33 self-contained flats. A big part of our role involves being aware of and responding to tenants’ needs, ensuring the well-being of individuals.
Our service is regulated and inspected by the Care Inspectorate and at our last inspection in September we were delighted to score 5’s, a Very Good rating.
We are keen to be connected to the local community and actively promote inter-generational activities with the local schools, both primary and the high school. We currently have two Silver Duke of Edinburgh students volunteering weekly with us, Iona Fox and Elise Reed. Iona Fox completed her bronze and came back for another year as she enjoyed her time here so much. We have been linked to projects the primary pupils have been studying and pupils have visited and asked us questions to help with their work. Two of the local school choirs provide us with entertainment during the Beltane festival and Christmas time.
We invite various groups into visit such as Therapets, outreach programmes from the Eastgate, Theatre Art and Crafts, Red button box crafts and the Therapy Ponies. These events always receive a good response. The Therapy ponies were a huge success and we are already thinking about when they can return.
We actively encourage the local shops to bring a selection of items to Riverside and have a stall selling their goods. This allows people who have mobility issues the possibility of having access to the shops without having to leave the building.
