The tenants and staff of Eildon Housing Association’s Riverside House, Peebles celebrated in style on Wednesday 23 May 2018 taking time out to mark its 30th year of offering high quality sheltered accommodation in the town.
One of the tenants, Mrs Charlotte Dola who moved into Riverside House back in May 1991, who has been living there the longest, was delighted to honour the occasion by cutting the official birthday cake.
Eildon’s Chief Executive Mr Nile Istephan, commented, “It is always lovely to come to Riverside House and it is extremely satisfying to see that like our other four sheltered developments in the Borders, our staff continue to offer a first-class service to our tenants and it remains such a desirable place to live. Of course it is not just about the fabric of the building, but all the people who live here, and have welcomed us into their home today to celebrate such a happy occasion.”
The Chief Executive thanked special guest, Jo Cunliffe from local voluntary group ‘Cycling without Age Peebles’, who had brought along the Trishaw ‘Amazing Grace’; named in memory of her friend, former Riverside tenant Grace Aitchison.
The celebrations continued well into the afternoon with speeches, party food and music supplied by Jimmy Gold ‘In Harmony’ on the accordion and tri-shaw rides in the garden courtesy of Jo Cuncliffe.
