As part of the wider community efforts to support people who may be struggling at this time, Eildon Housing Association and Scottish Borders Council have linked up with the homelessness charity Cyrenians (who act as the FareShare franchise for Central and South East Scotland) to collectively help get more much needed food down to the Foodbanks/FareShare partners in the Scottish Borders. The new distribution hub will be supporting the excellent work already being undertaken by other organisations, such as the local food banks, to help them in the current climate.
Food supplies will be collected from the FareShare depot in Leith, and then be delivered to each FareShare partner or can be picked up from the new hub. This provides a more localised response and ensures that deliveries can be tailored to meet the increased demands that are being placed upon FareShare partners. The overall goal is to have more surplus food brought into our region to support people right across our towns and villages.
