Our new extra care housing development at Glenfield Road, Langhaugh, Galashiels

Extra Care Housing provides high quality and accessible accommodation within a safe and secure community setting, designed to meet your changing needs after the age of 60.

A holistic service with a high degree of flexibility in how care and support is delivered, it offers continuity, as care is delivered by onsite Eildon staff. Our aim is to support people to live in their own home for as long as possible and remain part of the local community.  Take a virtual tour around this fantastic new development.

At Wilkie Gardens there are:

  • 39 self-contained flats, 35 one bedroom and 4 two bedroom flats.
  • 24hr staff team on site delivering flexible care, support and tenancy management.
  • A daily home cooked main meal and light meal prepared in our on-site kitchen and served in the dining area which looks over the patio and gardens.

You’ll have the freedom and privacy of your own self-contained property with the option to mix and socialise with others in the communal lounge and dining areas, patio and garden.

How to apply for a home at Wilkie Gardens

Our extra care brochure explains the allocations process along with the services we will deliver within Wilkie Gardens, layout of the flats, and charges. It also includes a helpful Frequently Asked Questions section. Applications must be made using our online application form. You will also find a link to the application form within our brochure. If you have any enquiries regarding our applications process or if you require assistance to complete the form please get in touch extracare@eildon.org.uk

Once we receive your application form, we will carry out an initial assessment of the information submitted to determine if you meet the criteria for the extra care service. If you meet the criteria we will pass the application to the Central Social Work Team (based in Galashiels) who will carry out an assessment to establish your care and support needs.

When the care assessment is completed, your application will be forwarded to the extra care allocations panel for consideration. You will be notified of the outcome of panels assessment. We will notify applicants by September 2021 if they have been allocated a tenancy in Wilkie Gardens. Tenancies will start from October 2021.
