Volunteer with OPAL in the Borders

Older People Active Lives

We’re delighted to announce that we, in partnership with Cyrenians, have been awarded funding to bring the OPAL in the Borders service to our tenants over the next two years.

The service is targeted at our tenants aged 60 and over and aims to provide opportunities for people to come together and reduce feelings of social isolation – something that is even more important as little by little we move away from the restrictions necessitated by the pandemic.

We will be offering a range of activity and learning groups in local communities, offering a safe accessible space to build local connections, have fun, improve physical health, keep mentally active and learn new things.

Members will decide what they want to do but the plan is to offer a range of ways to get involved including social and supper clubs, digital skills classes, singing and arts groups, community cooking and more!
