Eildon is very sad to learn of the passing of former Board Member Martyn Clark (1945-2021)
Martyn Clark was a long-standing tenant of Eildon Housing Association and was a volunteer tenant Board Member on the Eildon Board from 2006-2014. He unfortunately was forced to retire from board membership due to failing health. Despite lifelong mobility issues as well as suffering from haemophilia, his disability never held him back as he rarely missed a board meeting. He was a valuable board member and a sound representative voice for Eildon tenants.
Martyn described how his life hadn’t been easy after being diagnosed as haemophiliac in 1947. He said in a sense he was lucky to be born in a time when the NHS was founded.
Martyn had a career for over 20 years as an Audit & Compliance Officer. He was forced to retire due his mobility problems and had to undergo surgery. Later, he took up bowls and was Treasurer at Liberton Bowling Club for 8 years and was on the Committee of the Scottish Haemophilia society for 25 years.
Martyn’s great contribution as a voluntary board member is much appreciated by all who served with him, and our thoughts go out to his friends and family at this sad time.
